Or now we have about 30+ different camera angles showing every call in super slow motion over and over again, while the ref see it once at full speed and has to make a call.
I firmly believe that there has been no change in the standard of the referring over the years, however there is an increase of coverage meaning everything becomes more scrutinised.
Most of us have seen the calls and moaned and bithced about the refs, it's part of football, but how many of us have actually officiated a game? Until you run in the boots of the ref, most of us will never understand how exactly these simple calls can be missed, but trust me on this....the 3 officials can not see everything.
Case in point, Mexico only started to question the goal....AFTER the reply was shown on the screen (which should not have happened for obvious reasons), so not only did the officials miss it, but so did the majority of the Mexico team.
Also I'll like to add this. Never in the many many years of watching football, have I seen a team been relegated or knocked out on a single bad call from the ref. You get knocked /relegated because quite simply you where not good enough.
Recently I have been watching (in no particular order)
The Jerk - "Stay away from the cans!!!" Steve Martins best film??? 8/10
City on Fire - So sad to see Chow Yun-Fat do movies such as Pirates of the Caribbean 3 when he has these types of movies on CV (Hard Boiled a good example) 9/10
Equilibrium - Sometimes style of content and plot works, not always...but sometimes it does 7.75951287/10
The Good, the Bad, the Weird - Korean take on The Good, the Bad and the Ugly with a bit of Mad Max thrown in for good messure. Has to be seen for full effect, might not be your thing but I enjoyed it 8+:wtf2:/10
Watching it I was saying that Kobayashi would get Alonso on the last corner....well I was nearly correct as he got Buemi on the last corner. Freaking love the guy
England should never have drawn with Algeria, should have won against USA and finished top of the group. They didn't and came up against Germany. This is what screwed England not the ref.
Also England where on top for a max of 20 minutes out of the whole 90, where as Germany seemed to control the game a lot better. Even if it was 2-2, I'll still have backed Germany to win.
See the difference between the Scots and the English...is that we know we are bad, the English still believe that they are brilliant.
As for the game, Germany could have got double figures. The disallowed goal is not the reason that England are out, although no doubt the media would have you think otherwise. England should never have finished second in the group and never have played Germany now. No one else to blame but themselves.
Hopeing for a Argitina win to set up a tasty fixture for the next round.
So despite the fact that I (hypothetically speaking of course) would have spent my childhood growing up as a French citizen, developing a bond with the people I grew up with, developing a love for the country I now class as home and backing them in every major sporting even from when I was a kid....I would still not be able to represent them because I was a MacDonald.
I would be as French as the next man in the team, but under your ruling I would be deemed not fit...I wonder if you would like to then deport me back to where my surname suggest I should go?
So if I was born in France, raised in France spoke fluent French but my parent where Scottish and I happened to be a good keeper, good enough for selection to the national side....I couldn't play for them because my surname is MacDonald.
I know you can have moments where it looks as if the captin is drunk at the wheel, but even for you this takes the biscuit.
But he can't track back, you're getting hung up on one accept of the game and not looking at the full pitch, he no longer is or should be in the plans for England and you need to utilise what you have got. Lennon has been superb for Spurs this season if you care to notice, as has Ashley Young but was bizarrely left out.
As for Heskey, well he is gash, how can a player who scored less than 5 goals for Villa in a season get into the squad ahead of a form player like Bent who knocked in 20+ goals for Sunderland?
England needed a form goalscorer in the team, Rooney has hit burnout and England have no one to look to in the bench.

Reason : spelling worse than ever...
Come on now, in the qualifying campaign Beckham started only once (against Andorra) and mainly came of the bench with 10/15 mins to go....he is no longer important to the English side and the sooner Beckham leaves the national team the better it will be for the side. Seriously, what the hell is he doing there. He isn't a coach (as far as I know he currently holds none of the badges) and he's not fit....so why is he suited up and on the bench then?
England have got the players to compensate for the loss of Beckham, Lennon was one of the better players on Friday night and can deliver a decent cross, where as Gerrad and Lamps can deliver a dead ball just as good from the wide areas (as seen for their club) so the lose is Beckham is a piss poor excuse/reason for the lack of quality on show from England so far.
It's obvious that the England camp is divided, just like things where back in 1990. Just then there was a manager who could see the failings and was man enough to own up to them and correct them, and if luck was on the teams side then they would have won that world cup, Mr Capello however I think is a bit too stubborn for a dramatic change like that to happen.
John Terry sets himself up as the fall guy, seems strange that it was him that was at the confrence but by all accounts the "strong words" at the meeting never took place.
I know this seems strange, but the only diffrence between England in the qualifying campagin and the acctual world cup is the captain. Not the 2 hour deadline that Cappello has for naming the team but maybe...just maybe Gerrard can't lead a team onto a pitch, espically when he is trying to fight the likes of Lamps and Terry who want control.
BTW a word on the French. Couple weeks ago I mentioned how it was refreshing to see Anelka the player, not Anelka the sulk.....whoops. Seems the whole situation was worse than feared. Don't worry though, Laurent Blanc will sort things out when he takes over....surely.
I don't believe it so. I'll say that Marijuana is just as addictive as tabacco or drink. I've seen some suffer the same type of symptoms you'll expect to see from someone coming off the booze (amidlty that was an extreme case, but sill the point stands)
either way I don't think its any worse than whats out there just know legally, be it at your local supermarket or the chemist.
Couldn't care one way or the other, only have 2 main issues with it being legalised (spelling might be a bit off but it's too late too care).
First is the myth of not being a dangerous drug, some do have issues with it and I have seen a few mates go off the rails due to it, but it's no different to the booze.
Second, can you imagine the amount of people queuing outside the fast food shops late at night for muchies....if I have to wait longer for my heart attack box after a night out I ain't going to be chuffed
Kinda wished I stayed at home and not went out to the local establishments to enjoy some of it's finest house beers, then head to the local curry house for a Munchie box....as a result I've spent 30 odd mins on the crapper not knowing if I want to spew or just be violently sick..
...SOD IT. I can sit on the loo and spew in the bath if worst comes to the worst. I'm a classy guy you know.
Sorry for pointless post, but I just don't know what is going on these days?
But it's the closest I've got to a decent predection in days....I was only 4 mins out so I'm taking it
BTW what a save from Schwarzer there, how the ref saw that as a miss is beyond me.
Just seen the replay, that was a handball all the way. BBC showed a close up from the side lines cleary sees striking the arm. Sorry Austrilia, you got hard done by agaisnt the Germans but the ref called that one correct.
Then can you explain how the likes of Robhino, Mutu, Forlan (to name but a few) have came to the EPL and floped. Only to return to their home shores, orto an European league and become the players everyone expected in the EPL.
The EPL is a diffrent style of game to the likes of the Seria A, Bundasliga or La Liga. To suggest that it doesn't affect the players is slightly baffling
Never like seeing that, but then I suppose sometimes a performance like that deserves a booing. It would be a bit stupid to applaud them off
*cough cough* France *cough cough*

Reason : avoiding a double post
What a complete joke of a performance from England (Even as a Scot that was painful to watch....mainly due to laughter, think I bust a rib).
Seriously though, how can a team with the likes of Gerrad, Rooney, Lampard and co. have no spark and Glen Johnson can't be the best right back in England surely Only Lennon, Barry and James can come off the park knowing that they did their part.
